Vice President for Education and Representation: EMMA-JANE BURNESS

Emma-Jane Burness - VP for Education and RepresentationHello, My name is Emma-Jane Burness and I am the Vice President for Education and Representation and my role is to ensure that the students have a voice. First a bit about me, I am from Worcestershire and studied at UCB For three years doing a BA (Hons) in Aviation and Airport Management, I am passionate about the student voice and helping University College Birmingham be the best it can be for students. My role is to ensure students have a point of contact and feel represented during their studies at UCB.

Over the last years, UCB continues to listen to what students want and have launched the Listening Project to help support that. The Guild has a Course Rep scheme where elected student Reps are given training and are here to represent students' views about their academic experience to the Senior Rep on their course. We have also put in place a Student Council where Senior Reps can allay their concerns to the Guild and senior members of staff, this combined with the Student Council means that the student voice is really being heard. As Vice President for Education and Representation, I am responsible for the Course Reps and the Student Council.

Finally, I want to wish a warm welcome to new Students at UCB and don’t be afraid to give us feedback, good or bad. Don’t hesitate to contact me on guild.education@ucb.ac.uk
